Machine Gun Kelly and Cordae have joined forces and rapped over Central Cee’s viral hit “Doja.”
The original Central Cee anthem dropped in July of 2022 and instantly went viral on TikTok for its lyrics, including the oft-repeated, “How can I be homophobic? My bitch is gay.” With a Lyrical Lemonade video, Central Cee then became the first UK artist to have a video directed by Cole Bennett, and rappers have since started taking the Eve-approved beat and dropped their own bars over it.
Most recently, Cordae and MGK took over the track, with the latter shedding his new pop punk skin in favor of his rap roots.
“How can I be homosapien, I’m high as the alien/Both of my lungs are in training/I’m burning pounds not inside of a gymnasium/This off the cranium/This a nuclear weapon my bars are Uranium,” MGK rapped.
Cordae then took over: “How can I be misogynistic, I love all my bitches/Grandma used to whoop a n-gga with switches, that was way before the switches/I was just talking to kells and he told me pull up at the crib he gonna throw on a beat/You could be born in fucking Antartica promise that n-gga ain’t colder than me/ I was just talking to God and he told me I got it don’t worry it’s all taken care of/ y’all n-ggas stay on the blog I stay on the rise so please just do not compare us.”
The new bars from MGK come after he announced last year that his follow-up to Mainstream Sellout would be a rap album, his first since 2019’s Hotel Diablo.
“I’m going to make a rap album for myself,” he told Audacy at the time. “For no other reason, no point to prove, no chip on my shoulder. If I keep doing things to prove things to people, I’m going to one, drive myself crazy and two, not make a good product. I made Tickets and Mainstream Sellout because I wanted to make them. I need to now also make people miss that sound.
“I’m going to do this tour and I’m gonna step into where I left Hotel Diablo and expand on my storytelling as a rapper and find a new innovative sound for the Hip Hop Machine Gun Kelly. That’s where my excitement is and where me as a music archaeologist wants to explore.”
As for Cordae, he’s also hard at work on his follow-up to 2022’s From A Birds Eye View, and dropped “Two Tens” with Anderson .Paak back in January.
The DMV native will also become a dad for the first time later this year. Cordae and girlfriend Naomi Osaka are set to welcome a baby after the tennis star revealed her pregnancy earlier this month.
“Can’t wait to get back on the court but here’s a little life update for 2023,” she wrote to Twitter.
Cordae will also soon be joining NF for his massive tour in support of his upcoming album HOPE.The North American trek kicks off on July 12 at Schottenstein Center in Columbus, taking in dates in Boston, Philadelphia, Orlando, Denver, Portland, Toronto and more.
On AHHCade, PNAU are leaning fully into emotion for their upcoming seventh studio album.
“There’s something deeply connected about music and the path we’ve been on,” PNAU’s Nick Littlemore shares while introducing the new project, which is scheduled to arrive July 31 through Sydney independent label etcetc, under the TMRW Music umbrella.
“We’re creating songs from the heart,” he says. “Even though these tracks are built with electronics and technology, at their core they are emotional expressions. Peter, myself and everyone we worked with wanted to create a feeling of home, whether that’s on the dancefloor or inside the listener’s mind.”
The upcoming record includes the recently unveiled “Tu Corazon (Your Heart)” featuring Mexican rock band The Warning, as well as the energetic new track “Nirvana” with EARTHGANG and sadMONTH, which officially dropped today, May 8.
“Nirvana” pairs PNAU with Atlanta duo EARTHGANG and also marks the first collaboration with sadMONTH, the new creative venture from Littlemore alongside Toronto artist Dom Dias.
Littlemore describes the song as “the beginning of an entirely new chapter. It’s intense, chaotic and taps into a future version of punk electronic music. Expect something restless, rhythmic and completely untamed.”
EARTHGANG added: “With ‘Nirvana,’ we locked into this euphoric and elevated energy together with PNAU and rode that electro wave. Huge love to everyone involved in bringing this track to life and making it hit the way it does.”
Representatives for the group have also hinted that additional unexpected collaborations will be revealed in the near future.
PNAU, made up of longtime friends Littlemore and Peter Mayes, are following up their 2024 release Sambanova. Over the years, the duo have built a career filled with major records and industry recognition. Their global breakthrough came after teaming up with Elton John for the 2012 remix album Good Morning to the Night, which reached No. 1 on the Official U.K. Albums Chart. They later reunited with Elton for the 2021 remix Cold Heart featuring Dua Lipa, creating one of the biggest worldwide hits of the decade.
To celebrate the release of the new album, PNAU will launch the Australian run of their Nirvana Tour 2026 next month. The East Coast regional dates begin June 19 at Gilligan's in Cairns before finishing July 4 at Woodport Hotel in Erina.
