BigXthaPlug has run into some legal problems in his home state, as he was arrested in Arlington, Texas for marijuana possession.
On Wednesday (February 26), the Dallas rapper was arrested in Arlington, Texas. TMZconfirmed that the Take Care artist was pulled over just after midnight for driving with expired tags.
The officer claimed he could smell marijuana and asked BigX and the passenger, Cleodist Landum, to get out of the car. The passenger shares a last name with the rap star, born Xavier Landum, but the relationship between the two was unclear as of this writing.
Police claimed to have found, per TMZ, “cigarettes and a leafy green substance” in the car, as well as a gun.
Per Arlington PD records, Cleodist Landum, who had an outstanding warrant, was arrested for the warrant, unlawful carrying of a weapon, possession of less than one gram a controlled substance and possession of less than two ounces of marijuana. Meanwhile, BigX’s sole charge is possession of less than two ounces of marijuana.
Landum is being held on $16,000 bail, while BigX has not had any bail set.
Earlier this month, BigXthaPlug’s career took a big step forward when it was announced he would be a supporting act on Lil Baby‘s extended world tour to support his latest album WHAM.
The Atlanta rapper announced the dates on Tuesday (February 18). Tour begins on June 3 in Houston, and the domestic dates continue through July 1. Then things pick back up again with European shows in September, and Australian concerts the following month.
BigXthaPlug will be appearing at all U.S. dates except Los Angeles, and all Australian shows. NLE Choppa will be at all U.S. shows except for Miami. Loe Shimmy will be performing at all U.S. shows.
WHAM got a less-than-stellar reception last month from Lil Wayne‘s son Neal.
Speaking on a livestream, the 15-year-old (whose mother is R&B singer Nivea) made it clear he was not impressed with Baby’s latest effort.
“‘You and Baby should do a music video’?” he said, reading aloud a comment from one of his followers. “You gotta be out your goddamn mind. That n-gga dropped a terrible album. I’m not making a music video with him.”
He added: “Lil Baby’s not even butt, bruh. It’s just that album was terrible.”
Perry Farrell has released another public apology following an on-stage confrontation involving his bandmate Dave Navarro.
The Jane's Addiction frontman was involved in a physical altercation with guitarist Dave Navarro last year during a live performance, an incident that prompted the band to cancel their reunion tour and eventually led to their split.
“I'd like to address what happened on stage last year,” Perry, 66, said in a statement shared across both his personal Instagram account and Jane's Addiction’s official page. “I've reflected on it and know I didn't handle myself the way I should have. I apologize to our patrons and my bandmates for losing my temper and for disrupting the show.”
He went on to admit that he did not meet fan expectations and described himself as deeply remorseful toward everyone impacted by the incident.
“Jane's Addiction has been at the center of my life for decades. The band, the songs, the patrons, and the impact that we've had on music and culture mean more to me than any words I could ever possibly write down,” he shared.
“My aim has always been to give our audience the best possible show, something real, honest and positive. In Boston, we fell short of that, and I'm truly sorry to everyone who was impacted.”
Jane's Addiction also issued its own statement regarding the altercation, which ultimately led to the group’s remaining members filing a lawsuit against Perry alleging assault, battery, intentional infliction of emotional distress, negligence, breach of fiduciary duty, and breach of contract.
“Today we are here to announce that we have come together one last time to resolve our differences, so that the legacy of Jane's Addiction will remain the work the four of us created together,” the band wrote, signaling that the group would not move forward with Perry. “We now look forward to the future as we embark on our separate musical and creative endeavors.”
