CHICAGO – Jade Latrice knew she had to release the turmoil she felt over her parents’ separation. At just 15, she had become closed off, distant and suffered from depression … but then she picked up a pen and started to write. That moment of self-healing naturally connected to her musical talent, and today at the age of 17 she’s a voice to be reckoned with in R&B and Soul.

“I knew I was in a dark place,” Jade said. “I didn’t want to talk, but I knew I needed to find a way to get it out. Once I did, I felt a change. It was like, instead of harboring all this emotion – even though I didn’t share it with anyone – it helped to get it out on paper … I’m always humming – my whole house knows I’ve always been singing – but I still write things down in the beginning process of my music.”

The singer/songwriter in the suburbs of Chicago has hit the ground running in her career – teaming up with Grammy Award nominee producer TryBishop and Christopher Starr of CSP Music Group, for her latest single, “Make It Home.” In this fresh melody, Jade expresses what it’s like to be young and navigate love for the first time.

“I want to reach my generation with topics like love,” Jade said. “We can relate to each other, but I want to inspire them too. I want them to know that it’s OK to not be OK. It’s OK to deal with heartbreak, learn from your experiences and remind them that that’s the only way we learn. If they can grasp that with my music, that’s my goal.”

Indeed, Jade is reaching goals, overcoming the obstacles and climbing the charts with her soulful voice and gorgeous presence on video. The “Make It Home” music video is currently available on YouTube, with her next singles “I Choose Me,” and “Somebody to Somebody” to follow next spring.

“People need the reminder that they’re somebody to somebody,” Jade said. “If anyone is doing you wrong – in any kind of relationship – at the end of the day, someone cares about you. We’ve been through a lot this past year! Take time to yourself. Remember you’re somebody to somebody. Keep your head up for the New Year.”
