Bruce Springsteen has hit out at Donald Trump again describing the US President’s administration as an “American tragedy”.
Last week, he criticised Trump’s “disgusting” immigration policies following the ICE immigration raids that began in Los Angeles earlier this month.
It came after he called Trump’s administration “corrupt, incompetent, and treasonous” at a recent show in Manchester – a move which led to the President describing him as a “dried out ‘prune’” who “ought to KEEP HIS MOUTH SHUT until he gets back into the Country.”
Now, in a new interview with The Sunday Times, The Boss has hit out at Trump’s immigration policies again.
“We’re living through a terrible moment in history, where Congress has neutered itself and the boundaries that once curtailed this type of leadership have disintegrated,” he said.
Springsteen added: “The pure incompetence of [the administration] may carry the seeds of its own destruction. But I don’t know what’s going to happen. I haven’t lived through a time like this in my entire life and I’m 75 years-old.”
On the subject of the immigration raids, he went on to say “it’s been disgusting and dehumanising for so many folks who live here in the country.”
Since his comments in Manchester, The Boss has been backed by Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder, Neil Young and Bono for his on-stage comments.
Earlier this week, the first trailer for his highly anticipated biopic Deliver Me From Nowhere was shared, giving fans a first look at The Bear star Jeremy Allen White as the legendary musician. The film is scheduled for worldwide release on October 24.
Springsteen also recently said that the film contained moments from his life that were so “painful” he couldn’t be on set.
The singer-songwriter is set to release seven never-heard-before records next Friday (June 27) as part of a new compilation, titled ‘Tracks II: The Lost Albums’. It’ll contain 83 songs that were written across his expansive career.
He also recently confirmed the existence of an electric version of his 1982 album ‘Nebraska’.
London four piece Keo are on course to land their first UK Number 1 album with Put A Smile On For Me. After building a loyal audience over the past two years, the London band now lead this week’s Official Albums Chart update. Their debut record explores love, guilt, and self destruction.
Nothing But Thieves are close behind at Number 2 with their fifth album, Stray Dogs. The Southend band are hoping for a second straight Number 1 after Dead Club City reached the top in 2023. Taylor Swift is at Number 3 with The Life Of A Showgirl, helped by the expanded The Encore edition. Olivia Rodrigo’s You Seem Pretty Sad For A Girl So In sits at Number 4, while Soft Cell’s Danceteria opens at Number 5. It is the synth pop duo’s final album together following Dave Ball’s death last year.
Europe could reach Number 9 with Come This Madness, giving the Swedish rock band its first UK Top 10 album in four decades. A 30th anniversary reissue of Alice In Chains’ MTV Unplugged is at Number 13 in the midweek update, with Orbital’s Glastonbury 1994 set at Number 14. Julia Jacklin is heading for her first Top 40 album as The Gem reaches Number 18, while Suede’s Coming Up returns at Number 23 after its 30th anniversary physical release.
Also on track for Top 40 places are Nessa Barrett’s Tough Love at Number 29, the companion soundtrack to LINKIN PARK: UNSHATTER at Number 30, and Dublin band Gurriers’ Nobody’s Coming To Save You at Number 31. Blondshell, Kneecap, Tina Turner, and Leon Bridges also appear in the lower half of the midweek chart.
The official positions will be announced when the final Albums Chart is published on Friday.
