ScHoolboy Q is steadily gearing up to release his forthcoming album, Blue Lips, which is slated to arrive on March 1 via TDE/Interscope Records. Fans have been able to enjoy a handful of previews from the highly anticipated release such as “Blueslides,” “Yeern 101,” and “Back N Love.” The California rapper added onto the growing list this week by treating listeners with fresh visuals for “Cooties” and “Love Birds.”
Directed by James Edward and ScHoolboy Q, the videos feature vignettes that “are a furtHer exploration of tHe cinematic world surrounding Q’s upcoming sixtH studio album.” On “Love Birds,” the Los Angeles-raised spitter receives assistance on the opening hook from Devin Malik and Lance Skiiiwalker, who sing about realizing they haven’t treated certain women the best in the past.
“And girl, I noticed that, I mistreated you wrong (Wrong, wrong, wrong)/ Ayy, I was wrong makin’ up to you, left alone, gave me time, improve/ Lingered in my mind all day/ Lovin’ you all kind of, girl, I noticed that, I mistreated you wrong,” the duo croons over the nostalgic instrumental.
On “Cooties,” ScHoolboy Q shows off a relaxed and healed version of himself, as he lays some bars down about how everything his coming together for him in this chapter of his life. “Pages I filled, eternal, my skills/ From start to fin’ I can, better my wheels/ Like, literally, my daughters is chill/ Like, I can’t beliеve my house on the hill (Suu)/ Likе, I can’t believe that mountain is real (Su-su-su)/ Accountant’s thrilled/ The scars on the back of me healed/ Why God blessed me? I never deserved it,” he raps.
Earlier this month, the Oxymoron creator shared a trailer and tracklist for the forthcoming album. The clip also featured the definition of Blue Lips as follows: “speechless, especially as the temporary result of shock or some strong emotion,” “(of a person or mood) shocked, speechless, or embarrassed,” “a particular attitude toward or way of regarding something,” and, “become fully aware of (something) as a fact; understand clearly.”
Eric Bellinger and Sevyn Streeter are the perfect duo in the “Drop” music video. Directed by Apex Visions, the visual brings the two R&B singers together for a fun, synchronized groove. The track comes from Eric Bellinger’s The Rebirth 3: The Party & The Bedroom album released in March.
“‘Drop’ has been a fan favorite since the album dropped!” detailed Bellinger per The Hype Magazine. “I knew I wanted to shoot a video from the second we finished recording. Me and Sevyn felt it was necessary to make sure the video felt like the party that the song is, so we also included some fire grooves to keep the energy on 100!”
